Bahamas Credit Bureau Project - Request for Proposals

Published: Friday April 13th, 2018

On September 23, 2014, the Central Bank of The Bahamas released a Consultation Paper on the Bahamas Credit Bureau Project (the BCB Project), and the key provisions of the Draft Credit Reporting Bill, 2014 and the Draft Credit Reporting Regulations, 2014. In February 2018, the Credit Reporting Act was passed by the Bahamian Parliament and is expected to be brought into force by end of April 2018.

In furthering its work on the Bahamas Credit Bureau Project, the Central Bank is issuing a new Request for Proposals, inviting qualified credit bureau operators, with international experience in operating credit bureaus, to submit proposals to apply for a license to establish and operate a credit bureau in The Bahamas. Sealed responses to the RFP must be sent to reach the Central Bank no later than the 31st May, 2018. These should be addressed to the Governor, Central Bank of The Bahamas. A confirmation email to indicate that the package has been submitted is also required.

Full details on the RFP and submission requirements can be obtained from the documents now published on the Central Bank’s website.

The Central Bank anticipates the selection of a credit bureau operator before the end of 2018.
