The Central Bank of The Bahamas announces that it will make a $200,000 donation to recovery efforts following Hurricane Matthew. Staff and other resources of the Bank will also be volunteered, to the extent possible, to help with the immediate clean-up operations.
The Bank also realises that even with all of the destruction in The Bahamas, the events in Haiti were more tragic. As result, $50,000 of our donation will be allocated to that country. The balance will be directed towards The Bahamas' relief efforts.
The Bank is also appealing to the generosity of its staff and will match their donations dollar for dollar up to another $5,000.
The Bank encourages the financial sector community to also be generous in supporting the national recovery efforts.
