The Group of Financial Services Regulators (the GFSR) is pleased to announce the release of the Handbook on Information Sharing Arrangements in The Bahamas.
This handbook provides an overview of the regulatory information sharing framework in The Bahamas under its financial services legislation. The Bahamas is committed to full and timely exchange of information, within the law, between Bahamian and foreign financial services regulators.
The GFSR consists of the Central Bank of The Bahamas, the Securities Commission of The Bahamas, the Office of the Registrar of Insurance Companies, the Inspector of Financial and Corporate Services and the Compliance Commission.
This handbook:
sets out legislative provisions and principles that govern the exchange of information between Bahamian and overseas regulators;
outlines the procedures to be followed by overseas regulators for making requests for information or assistance from each regulator;
identifies the appropriate Bahamian agencies to which regulatory information requests should be made;
defines the specific purposes for which agencies may share information; and
contains information about The Bahamas' participation and membership in international standards-setting bodies concerned with financial sector regulation.
